Rise Budo is operated by KinCode LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Rise Budo mobile application and web platform (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Information we collect

Account information
When you register for Rise Budo, we collect your name, email address, and role (student or instructor). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account.

Profile and training data
We collect information you or your instructor provides related to your martial arts training, including belt rank, curriculum progress, assignment submissions, attendance records, XP points, and instructor notes.

Usage data
We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and time spent in the app.

Device information
We collect your device type, operating system, and push notification token to deliver app notifications.

Communications
If you use the community board or direct messaging features, we store those messages to deliver the Service.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Rise Budo platform
• Track and display your curriculum progress and belt advancement
• Send push notifications about assignment approvals, class reminders, and announcements
• Send email notifications including enrollment invitations, contract reminders, and account-related emails
• Enable instructors to manage their school, students, and curriculum
• Improve and develop new features
• Respond to your questions and support requests

3. How we share your information

Within your school
Your training data, progress, and submissions are visible to your instructor and other authorized school staff within Rise Budo.

Community features
Posts and replies you make on the community board are visible to other members of your school within the platform.

Service providers
We share data with third-party service providers who help us operate the platform, including:

• Firebase / Google — authentication and data storage
• Resend — email delivery
• Expo / EAS — mobile app infrastructure
• Stripe — payment processing for school subscriptions (we do not store payment card details)
• SignWell — digital contract signing

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only to provide services to us.

Legal requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data retention

We retain your account and training data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If your school’s subscription ends, we retain data for 90 days before deletion to allow for data export. You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us.

5. Children’s privacy

Rise Budo is not directed to children under 13. If a student under 13 uses the platform, a parent or guardian must provide consent through the school’s enrollment process. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without consent, please contact us immediately.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), Firebase security rules, and role-based access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

8. Third-party links and services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as Google Drive for file submissions). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
